In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:
Weblog Awards Voting Starts
Enough already with Ukraine- the Weblog Awards polls are up and running. I didn't make the final cut in the Best Blog Design category. #&$@!
I looked at most of the nominees earlier and found a couple of favorites. I haven't re-looked at all the finalists yet, but I think I'm liking Seaglass the most. More later when I have time.
Update: Now I have time. There's some controversy about the finalists in the Best Blog Design category. Most of the design finalists seem to be comprised of a big splashy graphic at the top with a more or less standard blog beneath it. Some complain that the text portions of some of these graphics-heavy blogs are hard or annoying to read because of the color schemes which were carried over from the graphics. The other major complaint is the presence of so many "girlie blogs" whose design consists of a cute, stylized illustration of the girl blogger at the top of the blog. Last year's winner in this category (then called Best Looking Blog), snazzykat, who is nominated again this year, has a good response to these complaints.
Professionally designed sites vs. self-designed sites is also an issue of some small controversy. E.Webscapes designed finalists Just a Girl and Note-It Posts (clever name, that). Ferocity Media did Solotude. Web Divas designed The Sundries Shack. Paul Frankenstein (!) did This Fish Needs a Bicycle. And BlogMoxie did both Little Miss Attila and Tenth-Muse (which is run by someone who works at BlogMoxie).
Having laid all that out, I don't think it matters at all if a blog was designed by the blogger herself or if it was done by a company or a friend. It certainly doesn't matter at all to the reader.
My vote, should you care, and there's no reason to think that you would, goes to Seaglass. Nice use of graphics there with a nice layout. It's very readable.
My reading habits would have me voting for Cold Fury, which is an excellent blog. But I'm basing my vote solely on design, which I think is the proper way to do it. In any case Cold Fury's got a substanial lead at present.

Hi there,
Just read this from a google search and wanted to thank you for your kind comments and vote. The whole award thing is rather quite silly and very much driven by how many readers a blog has, but it is nice to know that some have enjoyed my design. thank you again :)
