This blog is now read by more machines than humans: RSS robots, spam-laying insectopoids, echoes of blog-gathering .edu projects. This essentially is the state of affairs that all human activities wil

John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism
In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:
Vilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome
OK! Here's the new site. Ready to be all things to all people. It's a dessert topping, it's a floor wax, yeah, it's got some bells and whistles.
I'm still tinkering with some stuff. I'm going to add some news headlines, maybe something with other blog feeds. I'm thinking of amalgamating the feeds of my favorite blogs into a single list. Probably this has already been done somewhere else, but I want to see it here.
Probably I'll add a few more style choices. The style sheets, which you can change in the Style section in the side bar by the way, use css positioning. No tables were harmed in the layout of this website, which is a matter of concern only to html purists who scoff at the use of tables in page layout. Also, the only thing that changes is the style sheet. There are no changes to the code or html when you switch the style sheet, which I think is pretty cool.
I used Blogger's somewhat arcane but doable suggestion to "download" all the posts from the old blog. They're all here. All YACCS comments have also been uploaded here. In both cases it took a little bit of work getting all the quotes and commas and dates to come over correctly. So anyway that asinine comment some guy made over a year ago is now out of YACCS archives and once again exposed to all the world, fighting for its memey survival. Just like all my asinine comments.
The title Spartac.us is obviously a too clever abuse of the .us domain. Get it? Spartac dot us - Spartacus!? Ha! When I decided to do this, I was already pretty sure I was going to use the .us domain. It's cheaper than .com plus it adds that extra little jingoistic oomph that appeals to me so well. I also thought of other ways to use the .us, like aldo.us, for Brave New World fans, conspicuo.us, for no apparent reason, or maybe wondro.us, but I didn't think I could maintain that level of inspiring awe. The other way was to treat the "us" as a word, like in defend-the.us, i-live-in-the.us, or maybe lot-for-sale-in-the-midwestern.us. You get the idea. But none of these worked for me.
In any case, I've already begun to think of the site as spartac, like "SPAR-tack", which I guess has an okay ring to it. So much for Spartacus then. There are too many Greek-named blogs anyway.
The main thing I'm missing is a cool subtitle. A was thinking of adopting the Army's slogan. How about "Spartac.us: A reader of one"? Maybe something a little more Kirk Douglas would be better.
