John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism

In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:

That'll Learn'em

From AP:

Al-Jazeera broadcast a video showing four Italians sitting on the floor holding their passports. Behind them were men with machine guns.

The kidnappers demanded the Italian government - and specifically Premier Silvio Berlusconi - issue an apology for Italy's insult to Islam and Muslims, Al-Jazeera said.

And what was Berlusconi's insult?

We must be aware of the superiority of our civilisation, a system that has guaranteed well-being, respect for human rights and - in contrast with Islamic countries - respect for religious and political rights, a system that has as its value understanding of diversity and tolerance...

The West will continue to conquer peoples, even if it means a confrontation with another civilisation, Islam, firmly entrenched where it was 1400 years ago.

Yes, this kidnapping has certainly shown Berlusconi who's not firmly entrenched where they were 1400 years ago. The kidnappers are all up in Berlusconi's face with respect for religious and political rights! They're taking their understanding of diversity and tolerance - to the EXTREME!

If there weren't four hostages, this would almost be funny. If it happened in a movie, I wouldn't buy it; it's too obvious a set-up for biting satirical observations.
