John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism
In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:
No Votes for Oil!
All parties concerned, even Bob Woodward, are denying the charge, piled on by John Kerry and top Dems, that there was a secret deal to lower oil prices before the US presidential election.
Why exactly Kerry would think that the Saudis prefer Bush to Kerry, as such a secret deal would require, is an open question. Bush, along with every president for the last 30 years or so has taken a soft line on the House of Saud, and this could be an opportunity for Kerry in the election. But it's an opportunity he hasn't taken advantage of yet. There's no serious proposal from Kerry on what to do about the Saudis, just griping about the status quo (much like Kerry's position on Iraq or the general War on Terror).
So rather than offer an alternative to our current bizzaro relationship with Saudi Arabia, as one might expect a presidential candidate to do, we hear this bitching about a rumored deal, and Kerry doesn't have to deal with the difficult issue of Saudi Arabia's role in supporting terror and Wahaabism. Kerry is 'troubled'. Right. It's just another Gotcha! moment that'll go away in a week or so, and no one need discuss it again in the future.
Adding an extra touch of irony to the situation is that only a few weeks ago the Dems were going on about the high price of gas and 'what's Bush doing about it?'. It's become standard practice for the Dems, the press, and especially the left, to attack from both sides of any issue. Just because two complaints are logically mutually exclusive doesn't mean you shouldn't raise both. You'd be letting half your ammo go unused.
