John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism

More Islamist Diplomacy

Our friend and Islamic man of letters Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has initiated an overture to the Republic of Korea. He's requesting that the Korean government not send a delegation of 3000 troops to Kurdish Iraq in August. Like any good diplomat, he's attempting to offer the Koreans something they want, a Mr. Kim Song-il.

No word yet on whether the ROK is open to negotiations, though it is strongly hoped that Mr. Kim will escape the fate shared by Paul Johnson and Nick Berg.
In a major diplomatic move of its own, the US is also making serious offers to al-Zarqawi.

Unfortunately, al-Zarqawi apparently did not attend the Falluja meeting, though 22 others did. Whether they were associates of Mr. Zarqawi is in dispute. The US will likely continue to court al-Zarqawi using the diplomatic language he so well understands (and deserves).
