This blog is now read by more machines than humans: RSS robots, spam-laying insectopoids, echoes of blog-gathering .edu projects. This essentially is the state of affairs that all human activities w

John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism

In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:

Once More Into the Breach

Maya Angelou is black!? Or is that just David Alan Grier doing an impression?

Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis were embarassing. Who's managing them?

Yes, it's the Democratic National Convention, part deux. It's hours of entertainment for the whole family.

Update: I liked the American Indian rendition of the national anthem, but the fun's about to end- Ted Kennedy's coming up. I feel like having a whiskey too. But how'd they pick this guy to introduce him? LBJ's biographer. He should introduce Kerry so Kerry will get the benefit of seeming exciting by comparison.

Update: Sounds like a horror movie: The Squandering. Kennedy raised this dubious charge yet again. What I don't get about this charge is that it admits that we could only have kept the world's sympathy if we reacted to 9/11 in the way that the world wanted. Of what value is that, over and above the approval of the world under any other circumstance?

The Democratic Party is based on the cult of victimhood to a large degree. Whole constituencies within the party have their own victimhood as their central idea and claim. I think the Dems would have preferred that the US had taken this path after 9/11. America as the victim, waiting for the world guilt trip to run its course, bringing great benefits and assorted entitlements to the United States. That's the opportunity that they believe Bush has squandered.

Update: Gephardt didn't add much. Now Daschle's up.

Update: Daschle was a happy speaker. 'Course, he's running for reelection this year. Carol Moseley-Braun was typically whiney. Dean's on now. He's talking about himself a lot more than he's talking about Kerry. He expected to be speaking on Thursday night, not tonight! Eh.

Update: Christie Vilsack is up, talking about outsourcing. As has been written elsewhere, this is to be one of the themes of the Democrats this year. I actually don't believe that Kerry would do a damn thing about it.

Update: So there was the much talked about Barrack Obama. Good speaker, but the content was a bit trite. Did he say there was no black America? Someone tell the NAACP.

Ron Reagan is trying to be funny. He's not. He is condescending though, if that makes up for it.

Yes, Maya Angelou is black. Why is that so suprising?

"Maya Angelou is black!?" It's a Simpsons quote, like "Mel Brooks is Jewish!?"
