John Pilger: Partner in Terrorism
In an outrageous piece of terrorist propaganda appearing on the cover of today's New Statesman, John Pilger puts the blame for the 7/7 London attacks not on the terrorists, but rather on Tony Blair:
Poor Harry
Since so many have been eagerly awaiting my take on this ugly Prince Harry and the Swastika business, I feel I must, under protest, offer my viewpoint. (What a load.)
My point is this, and it is mine: he's a stupid twenty year-old kid! Slightly more to the point, he's a stupid twenty year-old rich kid!
When did the world begin to look to twenty year-olds for moral guidance? And when did the world begin to heap moral indignation on the foolhardiness of twenty year-olds? But maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Probably it's more accurate to ask whether the world had agreed to stop doing this, or if in fact I had imagined it.
After all, in the Americas, we only pay attention to British royalty, non-British royalty not being worth the pots they piss in, apparently. And we haven't had any British royalty in their stupid years since Charles himself was an awkward twenty-stupid something.
So I guess there was no agreement that this sort of thing was meaningless. There was only a lack of meaningless facts to report.
Harry's bad joke in party attire doesn't tell us anything about the UK government's position on the Holocaust or the British people's attitude toward Jews or Israelis, as some would have it. It just tells us how stupid is monarchy. Kids born to sit on the throne, examined every moment of their lives, every stupid youthful indiscretion making headlines 'round the world. It's become quite a revolting institution in this modern media age. Brits should bite the bullet, ratify a constitution and be done with it. Don't overanalyze- it'll be far less traumatic than you think. What's the downside?
But this is just a friendly American's unsolicited advice. You should feel free to keep your country as screwed up as you think it ought to be.
